Richard, you are correct, its business and in business, competitor companies can not be friends. Yahoo should have thought before announcing any deal with Google.

When Microsoft announced its hostile bid for Yahoo, Google objected the idea and threaten to lobby government to block the merger.

But back in June, Google approached Yahoo when Microsoft backed out from Yahoo buyout deal. Yahoo thought that they will get the financial boost from Google advertisement deal and also keep Microsoft away. Yahoo even also spent about 570K to lobby on the deal; but Google simply abandoned the deal.

And today Steve Ballmer killed the Yahoo’s final hope sending Yahoo shares to 9.14 (down 21%).

Well, I do not agree with you. Every company has its own opinion and decision. So does Google. They are free to act as they wish, until they don't double cross Law. And as far as Yahoo is concerned, it should have thought of some good strategy before getting naked in market about its crisis situation. It is business my friend, not a friendship story!
