India is world’s fastest growing and second largest telecom and handset market. Apple absolutely miss calculated the Indian market. Apple only planned to sell about 50,000 iPhones in India by 2008 year end. But so far Apple could only sell about 11,000 units in India.

Two months ago country’s 1.1 billon populations was eagerly waiting for iPhone launch and now because of its steep pricing Apple absolutely failed to connect Indian Consumers. Company is planning to send another 100,000 units to India to sell them by year end 2009 but I am not sure if they can really make these targets. Though Apple is selling iPhones like hot cake in other markets; iPhone is Apples Lost opportunity in Indian Market.
