Yahoo is in desperate search of new chief executive who can replace JerryYang. Yahoo’s board members are considering several candidates for the job, few are from inside and most of the names are from outside organization.

Among those being considered is Arun Sarin, who retired as chief executive of Vodafone in July, according to wall street journal. Arun served as chief information officer at Vodafone for five years. Before Vodafone, Arun served as senior executive at Wireleass Company, Vodafone Airtouch and Internet media company, as CEO of Infospace Inc.

Last month, Yahoo Inc had said that Jerry Yang, the co-founder of Yahoo will step down as the chief executive of the Internet giant, ending a 17-month long turbulent tenure, which saw him rejecting a takeover bid from Microsoft.

Yang’s decision to step down followed months of criticism from various quarters on a range of issues including his move to shun Microsoft’s 47.5 billion-dollar buyout offer.

New CEO at Yahoo will have to face very difficult tasks. Yahoo’s new leader will have to definitely make decision on selling yahoo’s search business to Microsoft at appropriate price.
